Private Property Impound

Big Boy’s Towing & Recovery provides reliable impounding services to property owners and law enforcement agencies to cities and counties surrounding our Missouri and Florida locations. If you need a vehicle removed from your property, or your vehicle was removed from the place you last parked it, take a look at our frequently asked questions below.
Private Property (For Owners/Managers)

A: No charge to the property owner/manager for standard private-property impounds. All towing and storage fees are the vehicle owner’s responsibility. (If you request a special move—like relocating a resident’s car during paving—separate site-service fees may apply.)
A: We can handle it or the local police department can handle it. We’ll follow your community rules and local ordinances.
A: If our driver arrives and the vehicle is now compliant (e.g., permit displayed, no longer blocking, properly parked), we won’t tow. If the vehicle is already hooked when you cancel, a non-tow “drop” fee may apply per local law.
A: We use a digital patrol/authorization system with time-stamped photos, license plates/VINs, reason codes, and property authorizer info. Each impound has a unique incident number for easy lookup and reporting.
A: If our Private Property signs are posted on the property, the vehicle can be removed immediately. If the vehicle has been stickered by the police, the vehicle can be removed after 96 hours.
A: A 4669 Form must be filled out and given to our driver by an authorized agent, before the vehicle can be removed.
A: Yes. We carry Commercial Auto, On-Hook/Cargo, Garagekeepers, General Liability, and Workers’ Compensation. Certificates of Insurance are available upon request.
A: We provide complimentary tow-away signage and installation, for up to 2 signs. There is a fee for additional signage. We’ll ensure placement and wording meet local requirements for private-property towing.
A: We keep a simple Private Property Towing Services Agreement on file so authorizations and signage are fully compliant. No long-term commitment is required, and you can cancel at any time with written notice.
A: We have multiple tow yards. A call into our dispatch office will allow you to find out where the vehicle is located.
A: If you are not completely satisfied with our services, we ask for a 30-day written cancellation notice and will remove our signs as soon as possible after the receipt of that notice.
Vehicle Owners (Impound)

A: Bring:
- A valid government-issued photo ID,
- Proof of ownership (current registration or title; insurance card helps), and
- Payment for tow and storage fees.
Some jurisdictions also require a police release—if so, we’ll tell you exactly where to get it. Storage accrues daily, so call us to schedule pickup.
A: A third party can retrieve with:
- A signed authorization from the owner (notarized if required locally),
- A copy/photo of the owner’s ID, and
- Their own photo ID.
For contents only, many areas allow retrieval of personal items (wallet, meds, car seat, work tools) without releasing the vehicle. Call us to confirm local rules and schedule a supervised property release during business hours.
